Standish Standoff 2012

Postby Hippie » Fri Sep 21, 2012 1:49 pm

I want to extend an invite to you guys and hope we get a good Dorka showing this year(just don't take ALL the prizes). This is a "Hobby" based event and focused on all aspects not WAAC.

The tournament packet is in final stages of completion and we are opening registration next Thursday Sept 27th.
You can find packet(when it is done) and details here:
http://forums.creativetwilight.com/index.php

You will be able to buy tickets online at Crossroad games website here:
http://www.crossroadgames.com/
Under Event tickets

When: November 10th
Where: Crossroad games 15 Fort Hill Rd Standish, ME

1850pts IA units allowed but not IA army lists this year(Sorry, I tried). Allies, Fortifications will be used but no Mysterious stuff. We have an extensive comp rubric we modified extensively based on feedback from last April's event. Judges(myself and 2 others) can erase penalties if the theme warrants it(ie. Drop pod list getting penalized for transports, Mono Khorne list penalized for duplicates, etc)
$30.00 gets you entry, T-shirt, dice, tokens, Pizza and "Bronze Spawn" painting entry as well.

Some of you know last year we sold out in like 4 days so I wanted you guys to have a jump on the rest.

Hope to see you soon,
Steve 'Hippie'

Moved into announcements!

Interestingly, I don't have National Guard that weekend. Hmmmm....

I'm registered. Ian can't make it... but who else is in?

Oh PS:

That's the most balls to the walls complicated grading rubric ever. Don't attempt to math it out late at night or early mornings (like I've been trying) or you end up with some fun numbers.

Not sure what army I'm gonna bring this time around... 1850 is a little to large for my tastes... If I take the Necrons I'm just gonna bring what I like... But Grey Knights might be easier for timeliness reasons...

I'm considering it seriously...

The rubric does suck I know but folks that came last year will tell you we had some Long fang and razorback spam that was just no fun to play against. We ramped up the Comp last Spring but it was just too restrictive so this is somewhere in between(I hope). This system forces folks to take different unit types and with only +/- 50pts to be 'legal' you can only push it so far.

If you have any questions feel free to fire away.

Hippie, et al. I definitely respect the effort you put into the rubric. It's putting the money where your mouth is when you sponsor a non-WAAC tournament!

Thanks!

Now if we can only come up with a way to assure everybody has fully painted armies.

I find cookies to be very inspirational. I'd run directly into machine gun fire for cookies with frosting on them.
